Volleyball-Bundesliga Friedrichshafen wins the men's championship almost every year, but apart from that the Bundesliga as the highest German league offers exciting matches, attractive first-class sport and interesting encounters with other supporters.

 Mode

In the season 2010/11 men's league thirteen teams will play to determine the German champion. In the championship round they place twice a round-robin, so every team has twelve home and away matches. The four lowest-ranked teams of the championship round compete in a playdown round to find the two relegated teams which are replaced by the champions of the second leage North and South. The eight best teams qualify for the play-offs. The ranks in the table show the opponents; the best ranked team faces the worst one. The results of the VC Olympia are part of the ranking, but the youth team does not participate in an playoff.

The women play with fifteen teams in the season 2010/11. One of them is a youth team of the VC Olympia. The four best teams of the championship round determine the German champion in semi-final and final matches. This playoff round is played like the European cups with home and away matches.

 the teams

In the following list I present all current teams of the Bundesliga in a short summary. The buttons are external links to the club's website (V), the supporters (F) and the Wikipedia article (W)
We begin with the men; the female teams will be added soon.

evivo Düren
Verein Verein Verein
That is my club which I accompany as a member of the supporter's club since 2004. The best in the west have not yet won any title, but since being vice champion in 2005, they reached several finals and represented Düren in the European cups. A likeable team and a comfortable atmosphere with a lot of passion are the best arguments for evivo.

Titans Bergisches Land
Verein Verein
As the Wuppertal Titans were stopped by financial problems and the champions of the second league, Bayer Leverkusen, was afraid of entering the Bundesliga, a new club was founded in summer 2010. Wuppertal takes the license from Leverkusen.

SCC Berlin
Verein Verein Verein
Düren has experienced many narrow matches in important parts of the season and got friends with the representatives of the German capital, which are situated in Charlottenburg. The supporters of the SCC are furthermore in a close connection with those of the neighbouring Königs Wusterhausen.

RWE Volleys Bottrop
Verein Verein
The main sponsor of Bottrop delivers energy. The club from the Ruhr area did not have enough of it at their first two years in the Bundesliga. Last years the managed for the first time to stay in the Bundesliga.

TV Bühl
Verein Verein
By the ascension of Bühl last year, the Black Forest became a part of the Bundesliga map. In the small hall the team with the former Düren star Heriberto Quero earned respect. The successful story will be continued.

VfB Friedrichshafen
Verein Verein Verein
This club is often compared with the football club FC Bayern Munich. Friedrichshafen is the most successful German team and has won almost all German titles in the last years as well as the Champions League 2007. Due to their success-oriented they are often criticized for being arrogant.

VC Gotha
Verein Verein
Gotha has entered the Bundesliga for the first time after playing in the second league South for four years. The newcomer from Thuringia had a perfect bilance at home in the last season and now wants to add another chapter to its history which began more than forty years ago.

Generali Haching
Verein Verein Verein
Behind Friedrichshafen, the team from a suburb of Munich is the most successful one in the last years. In 2009 and 2010, they won the German cup and reached the playoff final of the national championship. Furthermore, many players of Haching are part of the German national team.

Netzhoppers Königs Wusterhausen
Verein Verein Verein
The club with the longest name in the Bundesliga is recently on the most successful representatives of East Germany. The team from Brandenburg reached the semi-final of the championship and is very successful in the home matches which are played in Bestensee. The supporters' club Netzinos often attends matches in Berlin.

Chemie Volley Mitteldeutschland
Verein Verein Verein
The region around Leipzig has been the home of many volleyball clubs. In earlier years it was Delitzsch or Markranstädt, now it is the team from Saxony-Anhalt, which calls itself Pirates. The quite young club is part of the Bundesliga since 2007.

Moerser SC
Verein Verein
The club in which national player Georg Grozer started his career can nowadays only dream of victories like in the 90s. Since several years they are searching a good team and a Bundesliga compatible in the Lower Rhine region. So Moers has to play in Mülheim an der Ruhr in 2010/11.

TV Rottenburg
Verein Verein Verein
The Swabian enrich the Bundesliga since 2006 (with a short interruption) and were ranked fifth in 2010. The enthusiastic supporters always fill the pink arena in Tübingen and participate in events like the supporter's championship.

VC Olympia Berlin
Verein Verein
The VCO project is a praised idea of the German volleyball. With this name the youth national team non-competitively plays by turns in the first or second league. So the elite of the youth gets regular match experience on a high level.

 Media

Spobox
If you are not able to get the live experience in the arena or if you don't want to be restricted to the statistics, you can watch the Bundesliga matches in multimedia. In the season 2009/10, the broadcaster Spobox showed some matches of both Bundesliga competitions in the internet and - in cooperation with Sportdigital - in pay TV.

To get this presence in the media, the DVL had to overcome several obstacles. Beginning with season 2007/08, the first matches of the men's and women's Bundesliga were shown live in the internet at DVL TV, a service of Sportdigital. Via several pay TV broadcasters the pictures also entered the TV program. Summaries of some matches were shown in regional channels.
Before this, we had live broadcasting in the volleyball radio Fangeist for the men's Bundesliga. The internet channel was founded in the season 2004/05 and informed about the playoff matches of evivo Düren. Later there was a conference report for Germany, but in the season 2007/08 the project ended.
