the latest resultsIn the following chapters you see the recent information about the most important German and European competitions.The score and news ticker are included via RSS data provided by the sports magazine kicker online, so they are only available in German. The score data are compiled with the program "Das Fußball-Studio" (see below). All data are provided by the staff of the freeware program. The individual pages with the data are constructed with an export function. World Cups
In 2010, the football world cup reached the "black continent" for the first time. While Italy and France disgraced themselves and South Africa was the first host who left the tournament after the preliminary round, the young German team made their fans glad. After a preliminary round with some problems the multi-cultural team overpowered England and Argentina with 4:1 and 4:0. In the semi-final we were beaten by the strong Spaniards, who later became world champions for the first time by winning the final against the Netherlands.

For the second time after 1974 the world championship took in Germany. Underdogs like the Côte d'Ivoire or Trinidad & Tobago brought an exotic atmosphere, but they were defeated by the more experienced teams. The titleholder Brazil did not show its usual football magic. The German team with reformer Jürgen Klinsmann evoked an ecstasy in black-red-gold. The "Summer's Fairytale" ended with an unlucky defeat against Italy in the semifinal. The scandalous Tifosi with their defensive tactic won the final against France.

The first World Cup in Asia was hosted by Japan and South Korea from May 31 to June 30 2002. That France lost all preliminary matches without scoring a goal, was not the only surprise during this tournament. All (qualified) continental federations had at least one team in the quarter-final; there was never such a diversity before. Rudi Völlers team advanced ato the final with the German virtues and only one goal against. Oliver Kahn of all people made the decisive fault which cause the defeat against Brazil.

The European championship 2008 was hosted by Austria and Switzerland from June 7 to June 29. The German team advanced to the next round with some effort while the French in the "group of death" as well as titleholder Greece had to leave the tournament after the preliminary round. World champion Italy and some other favourites lost their matches in the quarter-final. In the final match, Germany had to accept the superiority of the new champion Spain.

The Euro 2004 took place in Portugal from June 12 to Juli 4. All former champions were qualified, but then the favourites were kicked out one after the other. So the German team was in good company when it left the tournament after the preliminary round - similar to the result in 2000. One German nevertheless triumphed. Otto Rehhagel and his Greeks sensationally won the title beating the host in the final match.

The "kicker" sports magazine has the most competent and up-to-date reports (in German language) about the world of football - printed and online.
If you are interested in statistics, I recommend you the program "Das Fußball-Studio". With this free software you can easily manage the data of the leagues and analyse them with several functions.
